I just bought a 987 and ordered the stainless door sills which just arrived. Does anyone know how to safely remove the factory plastic door sills so I can install the stainless ones. Should I just have the dealer do it and if so does anyone know what they would typically charge? Thanks.

I'm almost positive that the sills are held in place with double stick tape. Removal is a bit tricky if you want to preserve the originals (for sale on eBay for example) but other than that just take your time and pry them up a bit at a time. Before removing the old ones note how they line up in relation to the rest of the plastic so you can position the new ones properly. If you have the dealer do it for you it will probably be well over $100 to do the job.

Do the new ones already have the tape attached?

What Dr. Zoom said + a heat source such as a hair dryer. In a pinch, you may find Dental floss can provide some extra persuasion.

Got them off and installed the stainless ones. Thanks for the advice. I just used a flathead wrapped in a towel to get one edge off and then slowly pulled them up and off. The new ones had tape and look great.

These look great - and really complement the other stainless finishes.
