Kuda Phone Mount - loosen gear covering

Does anyone know how to loosen the covering around the gear stick? I am trying to install the Kuda phone mount. In the instructions, it says to loosen the covering around gear stick. Here are their instructions: http://www.kudausa.com/images/manuals/089040.pdf Thanks.

Removed the covering and installed today

I contacted via email and they told me how to remove the gear covering. It was really easy, just tape a flathead screwdriver and pry up. The mount looks great, matches perfectly and I can hold my Treo or Video i-Pod. Pics attached.
