Hey everyone...I'm looking at buying a used boxster that is forest green, and am concerned that the color may not be a desireable color if I wish to ever trade or resell...I was told be a Porsche dealer, as well as a wholesaler, to steer clear of green in Porsches, not sure of their motives though as they were hoping to sell me a car as well...thx for any input.

Forest Green Metallic is a terrific color and looks really sharp with a Natural Brown interior. In fact, it's the color I was going to order but switched to Black Metallic as a coworker had already ordered that same color combo and didn't want to be seen as "copying" his order.

What it really comes down to is the car has already taken any depreciation it's going to and unless it's some really odd color combo like Speed Yellow with Green interior then I'd say, if you like it and want it then get it - so long as the price is right.

The attached image is FGM with Natural Brown.

Obviously this is a personal opinion but.....

I like that green/tan combo. The pic Tom posted is sweet. There aren't that many out there that color so to me that makes it rare and desirable. Should be no problem for resale. Go for it!

Green is no problem on a Porsche. In fact, if I ever have to repaint my 996 I'll go with Ruf Green (see the September "Excellence", pg. 58).

We had a local PCA member show up for a Show and Shine who had just bought a Forest Green/Tan Boxster S. The car was stunning! There are plenty of Black and Silver Boxsters around. I was looking for Yellow in a Boxster and now own a 2000 Guards Red. The color (certainly not my 1st choice) has grown on me so much that I can't imagine a Boxster in any other color. Just the damn sexiest car in town!!

I agree, it all comes down to personal preferance. I would think that any color that strayed from the typical (my arctic silver, which I love but is all to common) would be a plus? But then again I think that green is just awsome!:D

Something to consider

Before you do the green/tan remember this. The shade is reminiscent of "BRG" and the tan interior is similar to Connolly's biscuit color. The two are a favorite Brit car combo. Kinda like silver/black for German. Now no one is ever going to mistake a Boxster for a Jaguar but it does make one pause and perhaps that is what the dealer person is trying to say.

That's sort of like saying don't buy a Red Porsche because people might think it's a Ferrari or a Maserati. Sorry, but I don't buy it. If it's a decent color combo and the purchaser likes it then other people can go pound sand - including the salesperson that was trying to talk the buyer into a car on "their" lot.

International Auto Racing Colors

The FIA no longer requires that race cars follow this color code.

Blown away

Having been a member of this forum for only 6 months or so, I am continually blown away by the knowledge imparted here. AMAZING!!:D

Color

I like the Green/Tan combo. My BMW Z3 had a simliar green/tan combo.

Personally, I like my Blue Turquoise/ Black combo on the Boxster. :)

Thanks everyone for your input...Personally I think the color is stunning, and you've all pretty much reassured me...I'm forging ahead and buying it Monday so I can drive it a few months before the snow flies...I live in B.C. Canada...you lucky Californians!

Post pictures right away. We need more looks at this beauty.

For anyone over 50 years old, GREEN is the color a Porsche should be painted! Buy it, if not satisfied sell it to me at the depreciated price!

Speed Yellow

What are everyone's thoughts on Speed Yellow? I was hell bent on Triple Black, the dealer said he had a yellow one coming in on Thursday, I said "I DO NOT want a yellow car" but I wanted to drive the "S", when I came in to drive it, I went DAMN!, it works for me , ended up in my garage 4 days later....But, I'm only 48, so I don't need green yet....:D ...

Green is a universal color for all Porsche's.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ :p :D
