On a 987, a switched auxillary 12v source?

I am looking for a switched 12v source to trigger a relay. I would prefer one that goes on with the headlights but most importantly it should only be active when the key is in the run position.

I have a Canadian 987 which has DRL's and I want to power up an aftermarket HID kit. The voltage at the regular halogen bulb is not suitable (see attached picture), so I need to use a relay to supply voltage for the HID's.

Thanks!

Since you are using a separate relay, why not use the low beam line from the existing light harness as the switched line for the relay? This way, it'll only switch on when you activate your lights. JM2C and good luck!

First thing I tried, that won't work.

No can do... The second sentence in my post mentioned that the signal was not suitable (see picture in the post), the relay just buzzes.

There's a switched 12V available at the phone connector. Not sure how much current is available and it's not ideal since it's not tied to the lights. The best would be to get the wiring diagram for the lights and follow it through.
