Invite to
Wax & Detail Your Car Day
have lunch and go for a

drive!

DATE: March 8th (Saturday)
WHEN: 9am onwards
WHERE: cas951's
 place.
2840 Mauricia Av
Santa Clara, Ca 95051
Get Directions & Map here

Stevens Creek Porsche is also only 2 blocks away and 2 blocks from the GMC dealer on Stevens Creek. Cross street is Kiely/Mauricia Ave. Directly in-between Pruneridge and Steven Creek.
The plan is to get an early start. Work on cars from 9am-12noon, so bring your detailing products/tools. At that point, we will convene together and decide on the drive and lunch-venue, so bring your ideas. The plan is to finish up around 2.30-3pm. cas951 has not only offered us the use of his garage and expertise, but he is also OK with people washing their cars if they can't do it early enough.

Side Notes: Beer that early may not work well for most (except Paralizer, of course :) ). Anyone up for whipping together some spicy Bloody Marys? from BigB

I'll be there. Is anyone bringing a Random Orbital polisher?
George

Oh come on, when will good ol' elbow grease come in handy :)

Oh come on, when will good ol' elbow grease come in handy :)

I have done the good ol' elbow grease and maybe not enough to get the swirls out. :) I am thinking it would be a good way to improve the appearance of scratches and remove light swirls. On the plus side, improve the texture and luster of the car paint with minimal risk.

Don't you think they are the most user-friendly option and they consistently produce beautiful results? Anyone experience with using the orbital polisher?
Doesn't the polisher tell you if you're applying too much pressure. (don't want to damage the clear coat) The pad will stop rotating and then you need to lighten up on the machine and let it do the work for you.

Exactly, does anyone have one???? I was thinking the same. :D

I was fortunate enough to get one for Christmas from my daughter. I have the Griot's Garage special polisher and 3 step wax kit. You're all welcome to try it out but bring your own polish and wax. Even better use the clay/speed shine, Polish and wax that came with it but I just want it replaced if that's fare enough to everyone.

Great. I've always done a hand polish but would like a comparison. Looking forward to it.
George

I think that is more than fair cas. I do recall us talking about your polisher... perhaps on 986forum. Anyhoo, I will bring some stuff, but my goal is not to work on my car, rather help others (unless of course we run out of cars that need to be detailed, but I doubt that will happen :D ).

Saturday looks to be a beautiful day - everyone start collecting ideas on the drive/lunch after the event!

Just to let you know Kev & I will not be able to make it this Saturday. :( We have to go visit my son at college and work out some details.

Several weeks ago my oldest son had a bicycle accident very close to the college and broke his hand/wrist quite badly. Had extensive hand/wrist surgery and will be dealing with lots of pain for at least 7 months. Someone in a car had cut him off and took off without helping him. He is a Industrial Art student, finishing up his 3rd year out of a 4 year program. We just found out he can't finish this particular Industrial Design art course this semester. Because he can't use his hand for the projects, etc. Now graduation is delayed till 2010 instead of 2009. Plus, too late for a partial tuition refund. Oh well these things can happen.

At least he wasn't run over. Time will heal all things. Hoping he will let the hand/wrist area heal correctly. My son is a very active person.

Have fun detailing your cars and be safe. Will see you soon. :)

Very sorry to hear about your son's accident and the aftermath Dede, but you are right -- we should all be thankful for what we have.

See you soon!

Sorry to hear about that Dedes. I know what that feels like as my daughter went through a similar situation.

See you on the next event.
Efren

A big thank you to Ephren for hosting the Wax your car day. It was attended by George, Steve and Rhonda, Wing, Varun and Ephren. A good and informative time was had by all and then we went to Santana Row for lunch.
See you all at the next Boxster Brunch.

George

Thanks, to everyone for the help. Makes it so easy to do two cars when you have 10+ hands buffing.
