I made it. The holy grail of racing, The Nurburgring. A huge thanks to my host Achim, aka Porsche-Jeck from Rennteam, and his wife Meggie. We were also joined by 2 other Rennteamers that Achim was hosting, one of whom had just taken factory delivery on Friday of a 997 Turbo. Achim is one of the best driver's I have ever been with. He is turning high 8's in a completely stock 987S.
I've known the Boxster was a great car but what I experienced today was truly amazing. Folks I can't even come close to explaining how great a car we have. His car has 62,000 km(37k miles) with appoximately 6,000 km(3,600 miles) accumulated on the Ring. His car has had 0 problems and he only just recently replaced his front brake pads. His car is a 3.2. Achim passed 911's, 911 Turbo's, and a variety of other very high end hardware. He showed what this car is fully capable of. Reinforces what I believe already. The best modification you can make to this car is to improve the driver.
The track was absolutely crazy today. It had been closed for the past week because of private use. The entire week the weather forecast has been showing great weather for the day so drivers from all over Europe came in for the day. And great the weather was. After the fog burned off it was in the 70's. Unfortunately this resulted in a line of 45-60 minutes to get on the track. So I didn't get a chance to take the fine Italian crappe car on the track as time ran out. Next time as I have to come back. This place is way addicting. Everyone needs to come here.
George I have a sticker for your car.
A few pics from the day. This fuzzy Boxster pic is of Achim with one of the other members of the group.
