Rediscovering the Boxster

Fair point, Chris. :o I got my hardtop in preparation for my eventual relocation back east. And I got it when I did because the price was so right.

But I now realize that after a week of trying it out (to make sure there were no problems), I should have removed the hardtop for good while in California.

Thanks,

Snaxster

you folks that are freezing right now, can take solace in the fact that in the summer you will have water to wash your cars, we won't:(

Oh, and this afternoon I was cruising with both windows down and the sunroof open on my C2.......that's as close as I can get to top down driving nowadays.

Dan, You can come to my house and wash your car during the summer.:p I have a well that taps into a underground watersource that never goes dry. My property sits on a huge limestone deposit that holds tons of crystal clean underground water.

I went crusing in 75 degree weather in Santa Cruz before I headed off to freezing temps in Japan. But even the Japanese enjoy their Porsches in cold weather I saw a nice Green GT3 RS and a White Turbo 997 today cruising the streets in Yokohama.

Hi Grant,

I am looking forward to meet you at the track one day (I really mean it, no "hidden sarcasm" here :) What's the next event you are planning to attend?

Cheers

Snaxster's beautiful prose was so inspiring I had to take out the Boxster as well. Thanks to other babblers I now own a trickle charger and my first problem was solved. It is beautiful here in Carson Valley with a view to the runs at Heavenly Ski Resort. I didn't put the top down but I could have. Roads dry, clean, and curvy around here. Put about 50 fun-filled miles enjoying the ride. For those who can, "take it out and play with it." For those in the cold areas, spring will come....Jeanne T

You are too kind, Jeanne. I'm glad I could be of assistance.

Looks like your area will have clear and not-too-cold daytime weather through Monday. Enjoy the drives!

Best,

Snaxster

Yeah, all the way down to 44 degrees F. Although last week we had ice on my truck in the morning.

:D
I guess I proved myself incorrect...

For you Don, I took pics with my crappy cell phone camera of a night top-down drive at 46 degrees. I was waiting in line at In-N-Out. :D:D:D

What a coincidence. This last year is likely the one iin which I have driven the least miles of my driving life (in any car) and just a week ago I took the Boxster down some old familiar roads and experienced the "rediscovery". From Walnut Creek down to Ano Nuevo to see some of those big loafers on the beach doing their thing. Highway 84, Stage Road, Pescadero... wow what roads and what a day! Hoepfully someone will organize an upcoming event that's reasonably close to me! Cheers...

PS Tom thanks for helping us appreciate the "cold" days in CA!

Kudos to this thread. Inspired by it I took a cruise into Santa Fe top down (I wonder where I left my cap?) on Sunday (60 degrees), and just simply enjoyed the pleasure of hearing that wonderful motor rip up La Bajada hill (1500 feet in about 1.5 miles).

I love my little jewel!
