Porsche and Mustangs Featured

Porsche has been selected as the Concours' European featured marque. Its styling, drivability and racing prowess have established Porsche among the top echelon of auto manufacturers worldwide. The event will commemorate the 60th anniversary of the first Porsche, the model 356, which was road certified in 1948. The early examples incorporated many Volkswagen components designed by Professor Ferdinand Porsche, whose son, Ferry, then headed Porsche.
The spring of 1964 marked the introduction of one of America's most popular cars: the Ford Mustang. It's a pillar of automotive lore, and the car that brought sporting dash and styling at a price almost anyone could afford. The younger generation embraced its stylish lines, and muscle car fans flocked to its sportier versions, such as the Shelby GTs. Clearly, the Mustang has earned its position as the Concours' U.S. featured marque.
"I urge all Bay Area car enthusiasts to mark their 2009 calendars for our Sunday, June 28 event", says executive director, Schuette. "As usual, we'll supplement our ranks of car classes with imaginative special exhibits of common-thread vehicles. There'll truly be something for everyone. Spectators will be impressed, but our Lions Club charities will be the real beneficiaries."

Who is going?

thanks...for pointing that out Joe. Picked the wrong thread/post.
corrected now.
See you tomorrow in the corral :)

Missed you. I guess it got to hot for you. Did you see the other Boxster in your color with the 300HP engine? Also did not see Tom S. I know he was around somewhere. I did the drive yesterday. BIG fun.

My dad and I had a great time at the concours today as well. Wow was it hot thought! I crossed paths with Dedes, but I don't think I noticed anyone else. I'm still putting names (and screen names) to faces.

Here's a Link to my Flickr account. There are photos from the concours as well as the PCA Mille Miglia drive that I participated in the weekend before. My Boxster finally passed 30k miles during that event.

nope...was there at 7:45 am, left at 12 noon from the corral to go home and download my pics from the camera (memory card full), headed back in less than 40 minutes. I was everywhere...so sorry I missed you Joe!

Ran into quite a few people!
Paralizer left his business card on my car seat in the corral. Sorry I missed you Larry.

Saw Jeremy and his dad, the former owner of my car Calvin Cheng, Clemson & Mable, Troomi, Tim (forgot his babblers name), Matthew (my friend with the black 911 that went on the Bruce Canepa tour from Alice's Restaurant).

My Flying Lizards Porsche friends, Johannes van Overbeek and Steve the transporter driver for FLM. Brought the #80 FLM "Art Car" to the concours.

Had fun meeting my other friends too, John with the Porsche Boxster w/911 engine & Saurabh with the Carrera cabriolet both in "pastel yellow", same color as my car, both live near me in San Carlos. We have been wavying to each other for couple of years now, finally met. Both anxious to join us all on a drive someday. Plus all the Carlsen Porsche folks, and Bruce Canepa was there too. ..wow...what a fun "HOT" day! :)

Clearly I need to attend an event so that I'll know who to look for!

Click for my pics

I was a bit surprised to see that Carlsen did not bring a Cayman. Guess I should have ponied up the $ to park in the corral!

I am certain you will meet some of us soon.....watch the calendar and posts for get togethers.

Nice pics, it was a great day!...I will post my pics asap.

Regarding the corral, my admission for 2 ppl was $50.00, included gifts, like P.A. Concours souvenir bag, concours red wine, Garth Stein's book, "Racing in the rain", P.A. Concours lanyard, snacks, car detailing solution, etc. When you are registered in the corral you have the privilege to go in and out of the designated corral after 10:30 am. I drove home to down load my pics and went back.
It was well worth it, I will be there next year for sure! I had a blast.

Maybe Babblers can group together next year in the corral or enter our cars in the show. I know Clemson would do the corral next year.

my concours loot...

Admissions at the door cost $50 for Mable and I.
It is the same price... if I sign up for the corral.

Do they have a rule about what car I can drive to the corral?

I would say you would want to drive one of your Porsches Clemson....
You can check out the PDF, registration form online next year for all the details. Sign up right away before the deadlines.

Next year, we can organize a group in the corral. It was really nice...I will not miss it next year, that's for sure..

Finally recovering. :)

Thank you all for visiting the show and making it one of the best I've seen in a while.

I was running around and didn't very many pics, so thank you guys for sharing. In addition to managing the Boardwalk Auto Group, (we sold the Nissan GT-R to someone at the show and a nice check will be given to the Lions) I organized the Gallery of the Greats and the Then & Now exhibit. Too much...cutting back next year. Think we'll feature 1950's special road racers. There are a few cars out there that I know of....

Next year will feature Mercedes and I don't know what.

I liked the corral. Great way to participate and we will work with a group to keep you together. Let me know who want's to coordinate and it will happen.

The 550 Spyder made it with the reunion of the original owner and Pat Sebald was really happy. A writer from Excellence is putting together a story for the magazine.

Thanks again for coming.

Tom S

Ah, more excellent pics!

One thing I really wish at these shows is that more people would keep their hoods and trunks closed. I understand that it's cool to show off an impeccable engine or storage area, but one can get a much better appreciation for the lines of car when it's all buttoned up. Just IMHO, of course.

I put some photos of the day on
my www.spydersite.shutterfly.com site
....also extracted the photos of Spyder #0090 and posted them on the site too...
.
didn't sign up for the corral - I'd planned a Spyder drive from Alices for the day - but we wimped out and only drove back down LaHonda - and I went over the PA Concours - very nice and very hot!!!
