New Boxster

Have to say this does a better job of showing off the car than the Porsche site does. I was significantly unimpressed with the presentation of that mustard yellow thing they've got on their promo site—but this looks great. And it certainly seems to be well liked by the reviewer.

I want to say the chick car stigma thing with the Boxster seems to be more of an internet stigma as I've never heard or had anyone tell me that they considered the Boxster a woman's car. The main criticism of the Boxster, that I've heard, is that it is under powered compared to a 911 and it seems that Porsche has addressed that in the new Boxster. I've always felt that my 2.5L had more than enough power for me and if I had any more I'd get myself in real trouble.

I bought both of mine from females.

Nice review.

And that proves what Mike? I know at least a dozen owners of Boxsters and out of that two are female. I know at least a dozen 911 owners and out of that five are female. Should I deduce from that the 911 is a chick car? It's snobbery we all know that and it exists so a group of people can feel superior to another group.

I don't care what others think.

IMHO, the new Boxster looks great and I would be very happy to see one in my garage, especially if it was Speed Yellow and not that horrible 70's metallic gold :D

I really don't care what anybody thinks either. Out of all the fun and cool cars I have ever owned, I have never had one that does everything so well, and has given me more smiles per mile then any of my past four wheeled friends.

I would also like to have a new one, then I could turn Hiedi into a spec car:D.

Wonderful video ! The last two owners of my car were both females. But that means nothing to me. The previous owner was a husband and wife. The wife drove the box and the husband drove a (lol) Z3. When I test drove the car the husband came with me. I put the car through its paces on some great Carmel twisty roads. When we got back the husband said. "I had no idea this car was capable of doing any of that" ! And was torn in between keeping the car or selling it. So from what I've seen I'd say male or female, to many people buy these cars as a flashy status icon and don't enjoy or use them as they are built to be used.

Boy did I get jumped on.

Nothing wrong with it being a good looking car and practical too. I don't have to drive a macho sportcar for my ego. The '97 at introduction had lots more HP (201) than any of my previous 3 pre1971 sportscars but that wasn't why I bought my first Boxster. I drove cars with twice the HP looking for the perfect sports car at the time... the one I fell for within the first mile was the one that just seemed right to me and that didn't mean I'd feel bad if it happened to feel right to somebody else and they were of the opposite sex. I'd just figure they had similar tastes in cars.

My first was sold by the lady with a 4 car garage because she didn't take it to the club any more and needed the space for her Hummer. The second lady decided she needed a cheap gas saving 4 door as she was an outside salesperson driving lots of miles. No idea why they bought the cars in the first place, all I know is why I bought it...balance.

Oh and. while my first Boxster was totaled, the second was bought by a guy for his girlfriend.

So yea, the Boxster is a car chicks drive... and a great sportscar for a guy too. And I don't feel threatened by any of that.

The first two owners of my Boxster were Superman and Captain America.

The same reason why in the UK, the Coxster's C is repainted with a G (by vandals). JEALOUSY, and the fact that none of the detractors have even taken a C/Boxster for a test drive :-) !

Is it just me - or does the new new Boxster in Chris Harris' video look like an MR2 Spyder?

It's me too. Sorta.

I think it's that extra concave section on the door that leads to the vents that can remind you of the Spyder.

Chick car stigma might be from body styling

Once the Hanna Barbara childhood generation has retired from new car buying. The memory of Penelope Pitstop may be less of an issue.
