Hey guys a friend of mine has a 2001 Silverado that needs either a new engine or the one in it rebuilt. He can't afford to do it and he has another truck so he offered to sell it to me for $1500. It has 165,000 miles on it. Is this a good deal? Worst case if the engine can't be rebuilt and I need to buy one how much should I expect to pay with at least a one year warranty?

I'd pass. You're going to spend $3000-$4000 by the time it's all said and done on the engine, and still end up with a 160,000 mile truck not worth that much.

I agree. You can find good "work" truck condition Chevy trucks with running motors for less than it's going to cost you to rebuild the engine.
