Just got a call that my new 2008 Boxster has arrived at the dealer. I can hardly sit still until it is ready for pickup. Only problem is the salt on the roads from the ton of snow we got in the Toronto, CAN area. Will have to leave it at the dealer until the salt is washed away, bummer. I have waited 7 months so maybe another 2 weeks won't kill me. :D

Congrats, can't wait until you post the pics for us all to see. (hint hint) :D

Sounds exciting! :)

If you have a proper parking spot for it as well as a AAA or some such club membership, just have it "towed" from the dealership to your house. At least then you'll be able to admire it while drinking wine in your fav chair.

Oh, and as Larry would say "Post the pics!!!"

Will take pics tomorrow when I see it for the first time. thanks for the good wishes. What a surprise, I had trouble sleeping last night

Man, I can relate!

A most excellent suggestion from BIGB :) I am actually waiting until next Wednesday when I can take off the winter tires I had the car delivered with and get to revel on summer tires for the first time. Congratulations! No other feeling matches getting your new Boxster :D

saw car for the first time but it still had plastic on and some dirt from delivery. Somewhat disappointing. 3M has to be installed and then a detail of the car and I can bring it home. No pics due to the ugly appearance last week.

Hang in there...

Do consider that the Porsche stork made a looooong trip to get your new baby there (I was lucky in that I only had to pick up my car from Stuttgart - two hours away from where I live). Do go over it with a fine-tooth comb before you accept it so that the dealership is pristinely aware of any paint chips and/or scratches and the like and makes due arrangement to remedy any blemishes - which, let's hope, there shouldn't be any :) Hang in there, JAYRAY It's all, ultimately, worth it :D

BTW: What do you mean by their 3M'ing the car?

Best regards from Bier and Bratwurstland,
Nick

You mean it looked somethng like this?

My delivery story can be found here.

Nick,
3M is the coating on the bumper, hood and mirrors to reduce stone chips. Had a chip on my last car in the first week, not to mention one on the windshield. Didn't want to take any chances this time.

Open or Closed?

Hello John - So they delivered it with an open trailer, as opposed to a closed hauler like Tom M's? Still, sounds like they did a decent job trying to protect it.
Well your 7-month wait should be over momentarily - it'll probably take that long again just to wipe the grin off your face :D
There's still snow on the ground here in Bavaria too (had a big white powder dump a few days ago), still took it out today (first time in a week) just to "stretch its legs and see if I can spot any Ostern Kaninchen (Easter Bunnies) hopping around the countryside" (excuse I gave my wife to go out and just revel in it for an hour) - and yes, I am still sporting snow tires. And yes, Boxster drivers are ALL just a little bit nuts (anyone want to challenge that claim?).
BTW, great photo documentary of your delivery Tom :)

May be able to pick it up on Monday. They said it would be ready by late afternoon so I may get it then. If not, due to more snow here it may be later in the week. Bummer:(

Here are some pics.

We all like to think we picked the best combo;) Took it out today and found some good winding roads. Reminded me of why I bought it:D

I haven't seen that many either although I've been told they are mostly downtown. Not sure where they drive them for fun. Quite a large PCA branch in the Toronto/Mississauga area. Lots of activities including DE and racing courses at Mosport. Used to be an F1 course. Still considered very good.
