Lifter problems. .
Anyone have lifter or cam issues with their 5.3.?I've had a few problems.
 
Lifter failure . I've repaired many.
The cylinder deactivated ones are worse about failing.
Sometimes they take out the camshaft.

Is that a common prob with 'deactivated cylinder' style motors?

Yes. I see it often on gm motors. Not other designs though.
Not as many issues as the Ford cam phaser problems ...

I don't need to worry about either one. But it's good to know and check on any future buys.
