Some important updates for our community,
More than 5 years ago, I took over the Porsche Babblers community, and I have kept the site the exact same. And as the Internet has progressed, it's time to make some necessary updates to the site:
First, the required upgrade:
We are running on very old, outdated forum software. This must be upgraded. I plan to update the forum software to something much more modern and better looking. And this new forum software will be much easier to use on mobile devices. This will be an extensive upgrade, and I plan to complete this in the upcoming weeks.
Second, the optional upgrade and my question for the community:
Our community is 18 years old. And after all these years, the current site traffic is very low. I'm an avid Porsche enthusiast, and just as Porsche has evolved with each new generation of cars, I also want to see our Porsche community evolve and grow.
The majority of the past discussions were centered around the old Boxster/Cayman platform. A few years ago, I added a dedicated 718 section when Porsche made the decision to completely rebrand these models, however this section has never been used one time.
Keeping that in mind, when I do this forum software upgrade, I also propose to change the name/branding of our community so that it's more focused on the Porsche 911. The Porsche 718, along with the other Porsche models, would continue to be equally represented on the new site. The general idea I'm proposing is I want to breathe some new life into our Porsche community, and I want to help grow our site with anyone who enjoys and appreciates Porsche vehicles.
As always, any and all thoughts are welcome and encouraged. I am committed to making sure our site and community continues to remain online, and my intentions are to evolve and grow our community the same way as Porsche.
