Hey guys I was thinking about doing a fluid change on my 2000 boxster 5 speed non S . And I was wondering what fluid I should use ? Pelican has great reviews in the swepco 201 for the manual 2005 and up boxster . But will that stuff be good in my trams too ?

I bought the gear oil from Pelican parts, but after looking at the DIY insructions and the ~$50 charge for the socket (I'd likely never use again), I went the professional route... Alden - Flintworks. Can't beat it.

Part Number: 999-917-546-00-M850 Price: $12.00 Qty: 3
Description: Transmission Fluid (Transaxle) SAE 75W-90 (1 Liter)

My specs say 4.2 quarts for my 5 speed manual , but what I want to know is if the swepco 201 that's recommended for the 2005 and up manual trans is good for the 2000 model year.

... Swepco 201 on my car since my first tranny flush at 80,000 miles.
The car is just shy of 220,000 now.
Happy Boxstering,
Pedro

Perhaps the '99's capacity is lower, but unless Alden chipped in some of his own fluid, I brought in 3 qts.

With a lift, the job looked very simple, my hesitation was the need to buy the socket, plus, it gave me an opportunity for some burgers & beer with Alden and Heather at one of his Car Care Days. :)

I know more recent models are "fill to the drain plug", my year required a hooked measuring tool to indicate the proper fill (slightly below the drain opening) I'm not sure about the 2000.

If Pedro uses Swepco 201, that's good enough for me. :D

Haha I didn't have to chip in any of my own fluid. Capacity is 2.25 liters or 2.38 quarts.

Thanks Alden. I am probably going to do this on Saturday since the shop is closed 2.38 quarts of swepco it is.
