I have spent the day putting a few break in miles on my new '06 Boxster S that I took delivery of Thursday. Many thanks to all on this list for your posts and some of you for specific assistance in getting this car. For some reason that shall ever be unknown to me, I could not get anyone to even look at my 996 so I traded it to the local dealer where it is now for sale. I suspect they will have better luck with the sale than I did!

It was a perfect day in northern CA to get acquainted with my new "friend". Arctic Silver/Black/Black with 6 speed and sport chrono among other things. God, these things (Boxster S) make all the right sounds! Who needs the Bose?! The end of the day saw 122 miles on the clock. Although I certainly want the car to perform well for many years, I'm not sure I can rigidly follow the break-in procedure. Under 4200 rpm for 2000 miles? That could take a while and I don't know that the little kid in me can wait that long!

I think I saw you this afternoon about 2:45 pm on the carquinez bridge or what ever that new bridge is called. Your car looks great, nice color combo. Good luck and enjoy the new ride.

According to Consumer Reports the '06 Boxster is a best buy for it class. I heard a guy on the radio from Consumer Reports absolutely RAVING about the car. Congrats on your new friend.

Congratulations on the new arrival. I bought my '05 Boxter S in March with pretty much the same set-up (sport chrono package, PASM, 19" Carrera Sport wheels, sport steering wheel). The first 2000 miles were agony trying to hold it under 4000. Get them out of the way as fast as you can. You won't believe what happens when those variocams start doing their thing. And if you like the sound under 4000, you're going to really be happy above 4000. In the meantime, just try hanging in the straps on some 1g turns. Only time I don't enjoy driving the car is stop and go on 101; 0-8mph-0 is real irritating. That is when the Bose at +25 volume is useful.
