checked the schedule and it's almost here! 6 more weeks and it's time :D:D:D

3/15/08 Alameda Autocross#1 PCA GGR

LPR Ax#1 03/30/08 (Sun) Marina Airport
LPR Ax#2 04/13/08 (Sun) Marina Airport

6 more weeks to loose some weight

yep, time for the Boxsters to come out of hiding and get to some serious business.:D

my car is ready, is yours? are you?

this will be our first event back at Alameda in a year.

we will be using a different area than before. Make sure to check the GGR website for information on where we will be. We are actually on one of the main runways this year. So we are further north and east on the Naval base.

it is right next to the Oakland inner channel

runway #25

Are you sure it's not runway 07??

the car is ready and i'm not ready to loose weight in 6 weeks...hehehehehe!

the question is...will there be a fun group? so i could have fun on the first AX of the year :)

the contract from Alameda calls it runway 725. But if you go onto Google maps and zoom in, it is labeled as 25.

What ever the designation I know for sure that that is the area we are using...
it i just off the North end of Main St. on the base.

Gerry, what is the difference whether your car is classified in the correct AX group or FUN....

aren't you having "fun" either way?;)

Classing your car lets you see how you are doing against similar pointed cars.
How else are you going to judge whether you are improving or not.
This is not like doing a track DE day, and then returning to that same track at a latter date.
In AXing the course is different every time. So the only way to see how you are progressing is to compare to cars/drivers in your class.:)

hmmm, make sense! You are right :)

I'll put it this way...I will go out there and have fun and look at the progress at the end of the year coz' i gotta have the grin while eating some cones :)

we always want everyone to have "fun" no matter what their mindset.

this just gives you a way to guage your progress:D

and then some day you might get more serious about AX, all while still having big fun..

It actually gets more fun, the deeper you get into the whole competition aspect. You broaden you circle of competitors, meet new folks, and hone your skills even sharper.;)

the faster I go the funner it gets.

Sorry Dan... I was teasing.

The designation 725, probably means runway 07 & 25 - the 180 degree reciprocals. (depends on which way you aim at the runway).

OK, I am not up on my aeronautical terms...
:)

I just checked on Google Earth....7 (partial obscured by cars and buses) on the North end, and 25 on the south end.

that would be 725 or 257 depending on how you want to look at it...unless the north end always is listed first...

Yeah.... I probably should have included that those numbers are compass headings. i.e. if you're approaching from the east and land heading 250 degrees (almost due west)... you'd confirm with the tower that you're approaching runway 25.

Happy landings :)

marina airport KOAR

New to board. great forum
location folsom ca ( member of renntech.org, great forum also thanks to Master Loren )
1st time porsche owner since 08/29/07, 2003 silver boxster, love it.
no experience as far as autocross would like to do one.

Q: Do you have to be a member of pca to participate?

fyi :) marina airport runways are 11/29 , airport identifier KOAR
rwy 11 is magnetic heading 107 ( round up to 110 and use the 1st 2 digits ) meaning heading east south east
rwy 29 is magnetic heading 287 ( same round up to 290 and use 29 as rwy designation ) heading west north west
sorry if i got too technical, its the flight instructor in me.

if you have google earth program, you can see an satalitte image of airport and you can clearly see the number on the runway

Yo Gerry,

Dude I'm getting ready in case I'm gonna auto-x this year.

I've had a leaking center radiator for a month or two now, it leaks soo darn slow,I've only topped it off with 1/3 cup of distilled water this whole time.......I just ordered a new one today. I didn't want to go out with my car and risk it.

What has to be done if I want to sit and watch at one of these? Does anyone have an address that I can look up to see how far ahead of time I should leave to make it?

Gerry wants a fun class because during the winter he did a 3.6 little swap, a supercharger, nitrous and a new air fresher. The air fresher would put him in ax7... Trust me, no matter what class they put us in, we will never get that Porsche sponsorship we are dreaming for! Since we only have 6 weeks, I better start reading that a/x book I bought because I read as slow as I drive!

dude...why, why, why would you spill what we did on efrens garage...i was just gonna show up as a stock car and blow every single car that day...hahahahaha!

Hey I got sponsorship from Poor Siya according to my buddy's..hahahahaha!

remember, ray 6 weeks to loose extra weight or every pound taken off is one second less not unless we wiped every single cone's on the first turn :D:D

dude...you gonna have fun at AX. I thought I need to do all this preparation before I could go to AX but no special prep not unless you are in for competition. All you need is Helmet, masking tape, water, chapstick, suntan lotion, power bar and $30

my car is bone stock and you know it..the comment that ray left is not true at all (hmmmm)

I don't have the address right now but hopefully someone will chime in...

I'll give you a ring when the time gets closer, aight!

now get that leak fixed bfore you end up replacing the whole engine...hahahahaha!

you may come an observe, take pictures all you like. You can come and go anytime during the event. You do not need to arrive at any particular time to watch. No fee to watch. No fun just watching;)
Just come out, find an instructor to walk the course with you and ride with you, and ride with them.... and there you go.:D instant gratification.
Loaner helmets are available if you get there early enough...

you can find the AX general information at www.pca-ggr.org

1lbs=-1 second???? if that is the case, I will strip my car down, wear a tupperware instead of a helment and dress only wearing a loin cloth... that should be good for at least 5 seconds... yeah!
