I'm a brand new Boxster S owner (2000) with TC the DSP stereo upgrade, cruise, 18 inch wheels and the Porsche decal package. I've just run the heck out of it through my first tank of gas and love it, and on top of pushing it to my limits (say 8/10's of the car's) received 22mpg while driving at elevations between 5000 and 8000 ft. here in beautiful mountainous NM.

I tried to post a response to the blue smoke forum (I worked as a mechanic on German cars from 74 through 89), and it's yet to show up. So I'm wondering if anyone's out there?

Love the car, and have really enjoyed reading the forums so far.

Hope you enjoy your sweet ride. Your mechanical skills are a real plus if you decide to do your own maintenance/mods. You'll meet plenty of friendly people here.:D

I spent my first weekend getting used to the performance of the car, but I'll get some pics on here soon. So far my only performance observation as to where the car is very slightly deficient is the first 1000rpms after shifting into 2nd from redline. Curious if exhaust upgrade and/or cold air box improves this? I considered doing an ECU upgrade, but given my elevation I'd prefer to keep the gas mileage as high as possible. I still can't believe I got 22mpg on my first tank full given several blasts to triple digits.

Gas mileage? BAHHH Who cares? Unless your are driving it every day, that is.

You bought it to have fun, right? If you were all that worried about gas mileage you could have bought a Yugo. :D Oh and welcome.
 
I drive it daily and put on a ton of miles

I do use it as a daily driver unless I have a music gig. Anyway, all comments about performance upgrades are welcome. BTW how do I upload a photo on this site?

I think I've uploaded a pic. BTW this car is awesome! I love the stereo the sound is very true to how we recorded it in the studio! I'm torn between the tunes or the wail of the exhaust.
