How Are You Weathering The Storms?

Those of us who live in Nor Cal are getting a couple of weeks of rain, lightening and thunder and I'm in a funk. These are the days when I really, really miss a garage as I would be tinkering on my Boxster. I don't mind driving in the rain but as a top down photographer this weather is a drag. I've about had it with sitting at this computer and I don't have any "watch it now" movies left on Netflix so I'm wondering out of sheer boredom how are you weathering the storms?
 
As a person that just bought a new Boxster this have been driving me nuts. I managed to put about 50 miles last Saturday but that's about it. Even had a few friends drive it that day. It's been in the garage under covers since except:

1. Every evening I uncover the car just to read the owners manual and play with each item I'm reading.
2. Start up the car and play with the exhaust mode switch :-)
3. I think I've vacuumed tha car at least 3 times...
4. The car have been in the garage for a total of 7 days and I've already done full wax once and a spray detail twice...and already in the plan to do a full (below) detail when I have some free time. More likely next weekend.

I'm planning on doing this since when I applied the first coat of wax I had a difficult time removing the wax. Hence why I had to do the spray detail twice....

So far I've sat in the car every evening since Sunday night.

Yes I've been bored.

Well, I am going to work like normal :(

Was planning to drive the Cayman yesterday, but with no power it was too much hassle to open the garage. Maybe I will try again tomorrow, as the rain might wash some of the dirt off :p

I am looking forward to some clean skies and fresh greenery once all this is over!
 
Well after Babblers you can go to PPBB ( Porsche Petes Boxster Board ) then Porsche Purists and Pelican Parts. That should keep you busy for awhile. If not just start over again. :D

Due to the nature of my work I've been very...WET!!!! No driving home topless these days. And I'm getting a little sick of being stuck on the treadmill and not being able to go riding for my workouts. Geez, think I need some crackers and cheese for that whine.:rolleyes:
 
Put it this way, I haven't put gas in the Boxster since before Christmas.
 
Got in 300 miles on a PCA-CCR run on Saturday and have been parked and covered ever since (boxster not me). Looks like rain will break tomorrow and I can get some behind the wheel time over the weekend. Too many crazies driving on the comute to work to risk the boxster.
 
Some water under passenger seat, any advice?

I'm garage-less as well, so this rain really stinks, I checked under the seats yesterday as I had a problem in the last storm with water under the passenger seat. I cleaned out all the drains, but low and behold, water (not much, but wet) under the passenger seat again.

I have checked the foam lining under the clam shell, designed to direct water to the drains for rips, but everything looks good. Any other Achilles heels that may contribute to passenger side water intrusion I should check?

Here's a shot from my kitchen window yesterday when the storm drain got plugged :eek:

BoxsterBob pull the cover off where the interior air filter goes, in the front of the car just ahead of the windshield, and check the drain next to where the filter sits. That drain hole can get plugged by debris and will cause a leak similar to what you are describing.

I cleaned the front drains last month as well. The moisture appears to be coming from the point where the firewall carpet meets the floor carpet under the passenger seat. I hope to do some invasive digging this weekend.

If I can't resolve it, I plan to replace the carpet with light weight porcelain tile to make mopping easier. Hmmm.... Cayman? ;) :D
