Finally decided to quit saying "next year" about one of these travel things I've been thinking about. The simple fact is it's going to be a while before the dollar really gets strong again. So did some searching and found, relatively speaking, a decent price for airfare and car rental. So I'm headed to Germany for 16 days. Yes, the Porsche tour is high on my list of things to do. As soon as I have a little better idea of what my itinerary will be over there I will swing by the dealer and have them assist me with setting up a tour. Let's see what else is over there...BEER!!!:D:D

Anyway for those that have been there if you have suggestions of places to go and things to see please let me know. Should be fun I'll be leaving in early October.

Congratulations. I've never been there myself and currently scheduled to go in mid Sept. My trip looks like it may be pushed back two weeks which brings my schedule about the same time as your's. I'm headed to Weilburg,
Germany.

Cheers.

Larry, just make sure that you get a picture of you drinking beer and wearing their traditional hat, mustache and pants...and yes, they have good beer ;) have fun and be safe...

that's great Larry, just you going?

When I get a chance I will forward some information to you later this week.
Where exactly will you be going in Germany? .....of course Stuttgart :)

Make sure you include Heidelberg as one of your stops for ...BEER!!!:D:D

Riiiiiiiight... like Larry's gonna submit to being photographed WILLINGLY--much less caught dead wearing lederhosen and feathered cap. Moustache... now THAT I can imagine Larry in without too much difficulty. ;)

You might want to postpone your trip until the new Porsche museum is open in Stuttgart. Fun. :)

Larry needs to take the driving test first before he takes Fastlane Travel.....

So you wanna see if you've mastered the German traffic laws? Take this little (OK, not-so-little) self-test and see how you do!

Yeah, lederhosen always high on my list of favorite things. I wish it was of the Porsche variety however it will be something a little more subdued, and affordable. Can you say Volkswagen Golf.

I can't even imagine the moustache. And you definitely have the first part right.

I used to live in Germany, and I've been to the Porsche factory several times, but the most recent was in 93. See if you can visit the test track. I'm not sure it's open to the public, but maybe...There is a great little Porsche museum in Gmund Austria (Not the big Gmund but a smaller one) where Ferdinand Porsche was born. Beautiful drive from Stuttgart. On the autobahn, if you see lights flashing behind you, move right away. Rothenburg ob der Tauber is a cool medieval city not too far from Stuttgart and of course you will be there for Oktoberfest...Jeanne T

Larry, enjoy your time there, and see if you can smuggle some beer on your way back in a 3oz clear plastic bag :)

Arghhh!!!! Trying to put together an itinerary and I'm going nuts. The more research I do, the more places I want to see. Berlin, Munich, Cologne, Hamburg, Lake Constance, Fairy Tale Road, so much to see. Where to start, and more importantly what to eliminate. Okay folks, what can be eliminated?
