Monterey Historics @ Laguna Seca

thanks. I'll be patient. I did hear he was hit by a friend of his who got off track and over corrected on the turn before you go up the hill. Bummer

That would be Turn 6, which is not accessible/visible for the general public.
Unless there is some coverage of it on the NASCAR (sorry, meant to say SPEED) channel, you probably won't get any media from the incident.

ah yes turn 6...probably the most dangerous turn on the track, along with turn 4....both are very high speed and when you go off the tendency is to try to jerk the car back onto track....and then the car goes all the way across and impacts the wall on the inside of the turn....never a pretty outcome.:(

According to the entry list it was 149. Group 4

Hi Jeanne, this is what I found on the car #149. I will be adding a photo link for all my pics about the Historics... as soon as I get done with the uploading on Flickr.

best to you! :)

Here you go....#149
Hope all goes well with the damaged car.

this one was parked next to #162

here is ...#19
Lots of Red ones.

this 356 Red Porsche I passed going down Hwy 101 on Friday morning.

Dan, I think that is exactly what happened. My son showed me the in car video from car 149 and it shows 162 go to the right, and then swing back (you can actually see his driver's side front wheel off the ground) and then impact 149 followed by a cloud of dust and some audible swearing. (Perhaps understandably) He left lug nut imprints on the front fender, and both cars sustained some bad damage, but nothing terminal.

Thanks, that's the car. The silver one next to him is the car that hit 149. the green notchback, and 48 red speedster are all long time drivers and friends from the Reno area. I saw a video from car 149 and some pictures that my son had. It looks repairable, but I guess they won't be racing down in Coronado. Thanks again for the trouble

No trouble at all Jeanne. Glad I could share a few pics with you. :)

Sorry Jeanne T. I took a lot of photos that weekend but I didn't see any dented convertible Ds around.

There was this one sad looking Porsche:

That's the real deal and not some reproduction Porsche race car. Rest assured the Ferrari crowd goes its dose of pain too:

All in all the Historics were surprisingly destructive this year. Looking back I knew of at least six cars that were damaged due to collisions with something.

Cheers,
-J
