Hello everyone, I have been a Porsche owner since 1972 when I got out of college, and I just
sold my tried and true 912 Targa that I've had for 26 years to buy my BoxsterS 2003, and I love, love, love it. It's definitely a Porsche for the ages. Jeanne T

Hello, Jeanne. I can't offer you an official welcome to The Babblers, but: welcome! I am recently returned after a hiatus of several months. The people here are lovely and very helpful.

But wow -- what a personal history with Porsche you have. Was it a wrench to sell your trusty 912 Targa? Even if so, it's obvious that your loyalty was well rewarded by your Boxster S. May it give you as many years and miles of happy driving as your 912 did.

Others will ask you to post photos of your Boxster, but I would like to see photos of your former 912, please. :D

Regards,

Snaxster

Congratulations,

I just recently bought a Boxster too. Mine is an 05 base car. I still have my first Porsche, a 1974 914 (now a dedicated DE car), and I have a 1974 911 no frills car (no sunroof, no air conditioning, no nothing) and it is fun too, but the Boxster is a truly modern car with all of the frills and it is soooo sweet to drive.

Have lots of fun with yours.

PS I have to ask, what year was the 912 and what color was it? (I "almost" bought a 69 912 Targa that was Auberguine ie deep purple) (Wish I had it now...)

Welcome Aboard Jeanne T to the forum. :):):):):)
and Congratulations!

If you could please mark your location on the Babblers Googlemap and Your entry to add your image of your car, would be great! Would love to see pics of your previous Porsche as well!

Cheers!
Welcome Committee :D

Welcome Jeanne,
Wow, Minden Nevada! Do speed limits mean anything out there? I'll bet Nevada is a great place to own a Porsche. You could find a straight stretch of dessert and find out what its like to go 140. :)

I was just there a week ago in Minden/Gardnerville for PCA-SNR "Porsches in the Park" drive event. You still have to watch your speed :D

Next time Jeanne we will have to meet in Tahoe South Shore or Minden.

Welcome aboard. Pics are most definitely needed, of both cars please.

Nice Ride

Have fun with your new Boxster S. This is a fun site with a lot of great info from all over the US. I have been using mine as a daily driver since this Spring, and I still get a smile on my face when I take off:D There aren't too many Boxster's where I live in Michigan, and yesterday I saw another one at a stop light - you forget how nice these look from a distance:D:D:D

thanks for the welcome

Thank you all for the great messages and welcomes. I thought I had put a picture of my new car, but apparantly I need some tech support, i.e. my son. A couple of folks wanted to see pictures of my 912 that I sold, but I don't know if I'll get the attachment. I was pleased to hear that sometimes there are events up here. Nevada straight roads are good, but the curvy mountain roads are more fun.

Wow, Jeanne... what a cool, classic car your 912 was. Nice photo, too! Thank you for posting it.

Best,

Jeanne:

I really like the old 912. White? If that is a recent picture, it was a real eye-full. Looks like it was rust free. Too bad you could not have kept it too.

Lets all hope that in 30 years we all like our Boxsters as much as we do the old cars today.

I hope so.

Thanks, Dale, it is white. The picture was taken at Fernley raceway, and it kind of shows it off. Rust free, but with a few rock chips, etc. It went to a good home in Washington state to a guy who was thrilled to get it. So my son took credit for selling it in a week, and then finding me the exact Boxster I wanted, from a Babblers member I found out today. He is looking for a 911. So I think everyone was happy...good "Karma" I hope

It was a good car. Picture taken at Fernley raceway this last spring. It went to a good home in eastern washington.
