Akif, how was the S.F. car show? Is it worth going?
Like your new car

! How come you didn't drive it on Saturday?
Well... the roads would have been very hard on the car, and my body - that's why I opted for the Boxster on Saturday
As far as the auto show, my first time at these types of events, so can't really compare it to anything else. Basically, most of the cars there were production versions, so you see most of the cars on the road anyway - or you can go to the dealerships (at least if you live in an area like California

).
Having said that, there was a pretty big variety - Maserati (2 cars), Porsche (several versions of 911, the cayenne hybrid drive, etc.), Chevy (the new camaro), Lotus (Exige and Elise), Lambos, Bentley, Range Rover, Audi, Mercedes, BMW (1 series), all the Japanese brands, etc. Most of the cars I've mentioned were hands-off

. I bypassed a few brands like Buick, Acura, etc. A colleague of mine mentioned that they have the new version of Prius - not my cup of tea, so I never even looked at it.
They also had "Tango", which requires "Cash" (bad movie reference... though I'm not sure when I say bad, does it go with the reference or the movie). It's a 2 seater (tandem seating), comes with a race-style cage for safety, etc. The cash part is about $108k, as these guys are made to order only. Parks in motorcycle parking, etc. etc. (photos on flickr)
Ford has a promotion going where if you sign up, they'll give you $75 if you go and do a test drive. Mitsubishi has some $$-off promotion if you get auto show "validation" and then go buy something, etc. If you're interested, your brand may have a similar promotion.
Overall, at $8 tickets and 2-4 of hours of time, I think it is not bad. I would probably wait till next weekend if you want to go, as the Nissan folks said the GTR will be there on Thursday and stay till the end of the show.
