I dropped of my car to a upholstery shop yesterday ! And I'm getting it back Monday with a brand new Gahh top. The top is the best A5 acoustic top you can get from gahh with the glass window and defroster. The glass and seam are guaranteed for life? My 2000 boxster had its original top and back window (never been replaced) . I'm so nervous and excited its driving me crazy.
It's always had a garage until recently when we moved and now it sleeps outside with a car cover :( . It only took one year for the sun and rain to kill the back window. I just hope the glass window is really worth having an even more cramped access to the engine compartment. A shop here in town is doing the work here in Scotts valley called Dans upholstery . I hope it's quick and painless.

Post pics and let us know how visibility is impacted. I recently put a "new to me" top on due to a window seam split and 13 years of canvas scuffs. Enjoy your new top!:)

Not trying to hijack this post but I've had my GAAH with glass window on for three months now and have to say the visibility issue is highly overstated. There is more than enough glass to see through given you're mostly looking through a small space between the roll bars anyway. The most difficult thing I've had to overcome is the urge to get out and do the karate chop.:D

I couldn't agree more , in fact I believe I can see just as goods if not better than before. With the glass I can see really far away behind me. ::(looking for cops creeping):: . The top is perfect and the sound level in the car has dropped a lot too. I couldn't be happier ! ImageUploadedByTapatalk1337304825.802136.jpg
This is just one pic. After I wash the car I will post more.

Either my memory is faulty or they have made the window significantly larger. I looked at the GAHH top when they first came out and it closely resembled the viewing area of a Tank Turret. That looks much more like the OEM 2003+ glass top. Looks great!

Maybe it's the angle the pic was taken at but that looks more like a plastic window than glass. Here's my new GAAH with glass window taken from the back. It is smaller than the plastic window but essentially you're looking out the back through your rear view mirror which reflects the area between the roll bars so there isn't any difference in the amount of area you see.
The Porsche equivalent is slightly larger, has PORSCHE on it at the bottom and is three times the price.

This picture was posted on Rennlist in 2006, and it appears the newer generation does have a larger window, but perhaps it's just the angle of the picture.

Probably that angle Bob. Taken from low and behind like that it will look smaller. You'll notice Saw's looks larger than mine. At the angle his is taken at it almost looks like a plastic window.

Ya I'm not sure of the size, compared to the older ones but I have no complaints what so ever about rear viewing sizes. I love my Gahh top. Now it's clutch time and IMS and RMS. I think I'm going with the light weight flywheel. Does anyone here have any input on this or should I start a new thread ?

Light flywheel can cause lumpy idle, cold start issues, hard to pull away from a dead stop without stalling....

So this is not my daily driver, just a weekend toy. I wonder what the positives and the negatives are and are they worth it. I was told from a local private Porsche shop it would make a great improvement with the lowered rotating weight. The one from pelican says it won't sacrifice to much drivabilityImageUploadedByTapatalk1338955320.095737.jpg
Have you or anyone you know had experience with this ?

Really depends on how light you go...the lighter the more drivability issues you will have...and then if it is just a couple of pounds what is the point other than you can say you have a lightened flywheel...
I have had a couple of full on racecars with lightened flywheels with no issues, but they weren't over done. On purpose!

Ok cool thank you. I guess I have to do some more research and see if it's something I should do or not. I'm planing a new flywheel anyways with my clutch so I don't know if I'll go stock or lightweight Yet. Thanks again 😄
