You didnt mention Cayman like stiffness. LOL! Thats one of the huge advantages with this cage.

We will weigh it in next day or two. I suspect its around 2200 lbs in current state with steel fenders and doors.

Its going to take very lightweight CF fenders, door skins, and decklids to get close to 2000 lbs. Would need to remove some of unused sheet metal, replace stock fuel tank with small fuel cell and strip all undercoating too. That will all happen over longer time window.

Awesome! Wish I could get a ride in that thing around the hills of Bonny Doon... but don't want a butt-rash from that invisible passenger seat :D

I know you're heavy into weight savings but may I suggest two (aluminum or carbon fiber) inserts to close the "hollow eye sockets"?
Kind-a looks ugly on an otherwise very cool car

I was thinking the same thing, from an aerodynamics perspective.

Not finished yet. If you look closey you will see tabs tack welded in the headlight sockets. I have carbon fiber covers being fabricated

Grant,... How did the car do at the Auto-x? Any equally gutted 914 show up? Im just curious. Car looks cool and menacing at the same time:D

Its doing well at AX. this past weekend wasnt a good test of capability. I couldnt get new front tires on the car and course was very slow and cold which was less than optimal with slicks. Car pushed and had a hard time keeping the car in power band due to tight course design. Still managed 16th overall in field of 223 cars many of which were prepared or modified. No 914's. They are hiding from this car. LOL!

Car almost set TTOD at same event a couple months prior on better course and was 2nd overall ...missed top time by less than a 1/2 second.

Having been a former 914 ax car driver in the car pictured below I can tell you this car is getting damn close to capability of a stripped out 914. It just has a weight handicap of about 500 to 600 lbs from the lightest 914's. It puts down power much better than 914 can coming out of turns and has much better braking capability as well. To compete with the real lightweight 914's I'd either have to throw more power in the car or find a way to get 500 more lbs out. But this car is narrowing the gap. My co-driver drives a 1600lb 914 with a hot little 1.9 liter motor and the boxster has beat his times. He isnt a slouch of a driver either. He beats me in the Boxster occasionally.

Grant... for the 914 picture you just posted, interestingly your car, my car and Mike's car all changed hands to new owners.

Ride height

The car looks lower than I recall it when I saw it last summer at Marina. You had cantilevers on it and had the ride height raised for clearance. In this picture, it looks like the ride height is more normal. Also, it looks like the tire sidewalls don't stick out beyond the fenders as far as a thought I remembered. So, what did you do to suff all that rubber under the fenders?

Hi Doug, Ride hieght wasnt a clearence issue it was a camber issue. I couldnt maintain proper camber settings for bias ply slicks if I went any lower. I ground a bit of rear mounting points out which allowed me to lower the car by 1/2 inch and maintain proper alignment just before this season. Suspension geometry, syar bars etc get a little funnky if I go much lower with stock suspension too. Boxsters werent designed to run short little tires! But they sure work well!

The new tires are 2.5 inches wider than the cantilevers and they are mounted on 16x10 wheels. They are just a little over 23 inches tall. So car probably apprears to be a lot lower if you look at the gap. Tires measure about similar size to a 275 Hoosier - just a little wider.:D

These wheels are also cramed into that tight space. I had to take a baseball bat to front fenders to get them to fit.
 
Dang, I wish my family schedule hadn't gotten in the way...
Driving PB at the SCCA NT event in San Diego would have been a blast.
Car is looking very menacing these days;)
