Dang, I wish my family schedule hadn't gotten in the way...
Driving PB at the SCCA NT event in San Diego would have been a blast.
Car is looking very menacing these days![]()
Yes that would have been great fun Dan! I have gone from potential of very expereinced co-driver to extreme opposite now. Young guy with natural driving ability from what I hear so should be intersting. Either we will suprise a lot of people or come in dead last.
The car from SCCA FP class perspective is still a bit of an underdog as I dont think I will be able to do enough to it in time for the event. We will try to get it to class weight minium of 1900 lbs. Think I will have first sub 2000 lb Boxster? And its is way down on power from national class cars. They make 300 HP and I'm at just over 215 HP. Car also needs to spin enough RPMs to allow 68 to 70 MPH passes in 2nd gear. Think I need to bump redline to 8000 RPM to do that!
But the AX time from this weekend compared to some national class competitors tells the story. FP car in XP holding its own in a tough field. You know how close we were to Vic at Marina in the 914-6. I'm happy to report this car is faster than the old 914 now. Ability to run better tires on the Boxster makes a huge difference.
It will be fun to run one of the first Prepared class Boxsters at a National class event. Suspect it will generate some intrest from competitors. I hope it brings some new grassroots enthusiasm to the 986/987 platform.
