Put a lowering kit on you Boxster and get a new car. I can't emphasize how much more enjoyable my '01 boxster is with my new Eibach lowering springs. It's a new car. :D Check out the my side view shots in the Gallery.

The spring kit came from FVD, cost $295 plus shipping. I had the local Porsche dealer install them; 6 hour charge I think it was.

Wow nice

How much did the new springs lower the car and did you have to get shocks also or just the springs .Thanks car looks nice

Thank you. They lowered it about an inch. I did not have to put new shocks on. Porsche dealer installed the springs, and did the allignment, no problems according to the technician.

I think it looks great! Amazing that just 1 inch can make that much of a difference. I can see that upgade in my future.

What size tire and wheels do you have and have you noticed any rubbing.

Dude the car looks GREAT!!!! :D

How much more do you scrape the undercarriage or splash guards?

Anything which improves the handling of my boxster sounds compelling to me, particularly given the number of hairpin turns on my daily commute, but I also live on some badly rutted roads and have to deal with the occasional speed-bump. I'm already scraping the splash guards on the front from time to time if I don't slow down to an absolute crawl over the bigger bumps, and I'm concerned that lowering it an inch will have me bottoming out left and right - any real-world evidence on that on that to share either way?

You'll love it in the hairpins. The handled great in turns before, it's amazing now. As for speed bumps, you'll probably be hitting the little plastic air scoops in front of each tire (I'm told they are for brake cooling air flow). Mine were damaged before I lowered my care. Now I haven't noticed much difference. I don't hit my drive entrance, but I always do a little bit of a diagonal when approaching.

Thanks. How about ride quality? Do your passengers scream in agony every time you hit a pothole now, or does it still feel moderately comfortable? I'd like better handling, but I don't want to turn my Boxster into an Elise.. ;-)

Wishing my car had PASM as an option when I bought it...

Ride Quality

jkh, the ride quality if fine. Actually much better than before I added the new springs. That's most likely partially due to the Pilot Sport PS2's I also put on it when I added the springs. Ride is firm, but not bone rattling like it was before.

Awesome, thanks a million for answering all my annoying questions. Sounds like I'll absolutely have to do this, just as soon as Eibach offers springs for my 2005 Boxster. I've done some web surfing looking for a supplier and it appears that the current offerings are for 1996-2001 models only. :(

Good luck; I've not seen any kits for the '05. Congrats on the new Box. I like them, but I think they sit a little too high and would have to lower it if I get one.

Hoooo weee Cease is right about the awesome handling by using the Eibach springs! It lowered my car close to an inch and made my car look so much meaner! :D As far as the ride is concered, it is stiffer but not bone jarring. My wife did notice the difference but not complained about it.
I did the installation myself with some help from my friend. The front was a piece of cake and took a little over an hour to do both sides. :o , the rear on the other hand was much more challenging  but was still very manageable. over all it was very much worth the effort.

tire and wheel size

legere, sorr for not answering you question. I missed when reviewing. I have 18 inch turbos on mine, with standard S tires; size that came on it and as recommended by Tirerack. I did go with the Pilot Sport PS2's. No rubbing so far.

I have Eibachs with Bilstein SP shocks and the difference is night and day. Love the lowered stance and the handling differences are noticeable. I have a GT-3 nose, which also sits lower than stock.

The combination of the lower nose with the lowering spings makes me more cautious regarding ground clearance and obstructions, but it has become second nature to be more aware of my approach angle. Scraping is inevitable, but I'm willing to make the trade-off for looks and handling.

As far as ride comfort, I believe the combo is better than stock on everything except severely uneven concrete freeway expansion joints. If you have a long commute over this type of road, then it might not be for you. But my wife loves how the car rides, even on 6-8 hour drives.

YMMV
