The tents are up and the field will be marked for the 43rd Annual Palo Alto Concours d'Elegance at Stanford. Porsche and Mustang are featured and I have a soft spot for both owning the Boxster and my 1966 Shelby GT-350.
Here is a pic of the 1998 show, the last time Porsche was featured:
We have over 470 cars entered on the field and in the corral. This will be big.
If you see a guy with a Blazer, White shirt and Khakis, it just might be me.
Especially if I look tired.
Porsches featured are the Flying Lizard Art Car, the Monster Cable Daytona winner, Rothmans 956, Texico 962, 550 Spyder, and other vintage Porsche race cars.
Mustangs are represented by over 20 Shelby Mustangs. Featured are 2 R GT-350, the prototype Paxton car and one of two surviving GT-350 Drag Racers.
My group includes the Phil Hill 1950 Pebble Beach Road Races winning Jag XK 120, Charlie Parson's 1969 Lola Can Am Racer (8 Liters of Chevy V8!), JaguarSport XJ-15R, the Ron Fellows Sebring Winning Corvette C5R, And others.....
David Swig and I put together a "Then & Now" Exhibit of new pony cars with the old ones (Camero SS/Dodge Challenger/ Mustang GT ) along with some neat Japanese Supercars (Skyline and GT-R). We even have a Mazda Cosmo coming from the Blackhawk Museum.
Gates open early...If you are a gear head and are in the Bay Area on Sunday, you need to see this!
