My car is almost 12 yrs. old now and has 109k mi already on the clock. I think it need some freshening up. Since I'm on the tight budget, I've been contemplating on putting this one on my car for almost a year now. What do you think... Is it too tacky? It doesnt belong to my 12 yr. old car? Just asking opinion about it or if someone can photoshop it on my car, that would be great so I could see what it looks like before I jump on it.

I personally don't like them.
Seriously 99% of all other motorists have no idea what year your car is.
Hey, I've been at a DE event last year (with my 10 year old car) and a Cayman owner who was parked next to me asked me if my car is new ....
 
Well, as usual I'll be the minority here. My Boxster is a '99 and I thought the big plain sides were dull so I went a retro look and had the 914/911 PORSCHE emblem put on mine. I think it looks outstanding and adds a fresh look to the car. Haven't had any sneers yet from other owners and a lot of compliments from non Porsche owners.

@ Ron- I think on lighter color car it looks great...just like on your car but mine is darker and it might not stand out just like yours. Most of the car that I've seen with the Porsche decals are on the lighter colored car.

The blow of the wind has change...the guys in the other forum gave me this idea. So Instead of putting decals, I will upgrade my center cap, lug nuts and air valve cover and if my checkbook allows me, I will lower it down. aaaaaaannnnnnd....probably amberized it again :confused:
 
You'd have to go with white on yours to be noticeable. Have fun whatever you do.:D
 
You'd need white to contrast with your car's color, wouldn't you?

If you have a flat version of the decal—vector file would be preferred, if you have one—I'd be happy to show it to you on your car in PhotoShop. (I'm a designer and am fairly facile with PS. Can't make Abe Lincoln look like Jimmy Carter, but I can do a few things.)

Instinct says that it should be white on a darker car like yours, but black could be more nuanced.

Having said that, I actually prefer the clean look of your beauty, but still would be happy to put it together. Let's figure out how you can get files to me.
 
On your color silver would look good as well and not be as dramatic as white but show up better than black.

Thanks guys for the inputs. I have actually decided for now to keep it clean and just go for the subtle upgrade (lug nuts, air valve cover, colored center cap). I agree with what Chris said...no one knows how old my car is :)

@ Jon, I'm still curios though what it would look like but I cant find one online or even know where to get a file that you could use to photoshop them to my car.

@ Gerry, I just did a quick Google on it, and you're right. If it's out there, it's not easy to find.

Plan B: You've got a nice, clean shot of your car. If you can find a car with a sticker you have in mind, take a shot of it, as close as you can to the same angle and perspective as the pic of your car.

The color of the car and the color of the sticker don't matter, but the higher the contrast, the better. Black on white, or white on black would be ideal—I can easily change the color later if I can get a clean image. The higher the resolution the better.

Then we'll figure it out.

The one with the name that begins R901... will work, but do you have it any bigger? This image is only 11k and we won't see much.

I found a pretty good sized version of the sticker. Now if you'll email me that shot of your car, I can work on this. I'm sort of jamming these days, so it'll take a few days to get to it, but I'm happy to do it. jonswells@gmail.com.

Thanks Jon... but...dude.....Ron is so right...I'm confuse now on what my decision would be. It looks really nice. Can you do it in white for comparison?
 
oh also...might be asking too much but can you also lower the car...hehehehe :-D I will save it as my wallpaper :-D
