Too many close encounters with autocross pylons, not to mention a few steep driveways and one or two parking blocks had demolished the front part of my wheel well liners - which run all the way to the front of the car. The front had become detached and dragged on the road, sanding away a good part of the plastic.

I have replaced both liners with new parts. Its pretty straightforward to figure out the 10mm nuts and push-in fastners around the wheel well itself and the screw and push-in fastener at the front. However, its not clear how the wheel well liner is supposed to attach (or not) to the rear corner of the bumper cover at the very front of the wheel well.

Does anyone have guidance on this? Or better yet a picture.

---Bill

PS. I'm not bothering to replace the little scoop and air dam on either side. With my lowered suspension, these are so close to the ground that their life expectancy is a few weeks at most.

Hi

Bill,
How are you doing. Done anything else to the car lately?
I have no idea about your wheel liners...sorry!
Planning on TTing and AXing this season?
Pretty tough class in TT9 with Dean Thomas and some others.
Still not convinced the points system is the way to go at this juncture.
Happy Holidays

Will AX but not TT this year

Dan,

I will definitely autocross this year (although I'm debating whether to run my Boxster (AX6) or my 964 (AX11)).

I am not going to have time to TT this year. I'm starting a new job as Chair of CS at Stanford and taking 5 weekends off is not in the cards. I will probably sneak up to Thunderhill for one TT weekend.

See my reply to your other post about the new rules.

Hopefully the attached will help out.

Tom,

Thanks for the posting. Unfortunately it doesn't help much. I've already looked at both the PET and the factory manual and neither shows the details of the fastening at the front of the wheel well.

Next time I see an unscathed Boxster, I'm going to ask the owner if I can jack it up to look underneath.

Actually, I believe it does. But only if you've seen it before firsthand :D

There's a slip-on fastener and screw. The screw goes through a tab on the wheel liner and attaches via the captive fastener, which is on the bumper (or vice versa). I've done a couple of them and it's a real bear to get to.

As I recall, the bottom of the liner is held in place on the bottom with short screws.
